No need to spend tons of money on your daily nutrition at juice and smoothie bars. For just a fraction of the price, you can make your own delicious smoothies at home. This Rainbow Razzmatazz is bursting with flavor and makes for a great morning pre-workout or an afternoon pick me up.
If you’re using whole oranges and you don’t want to waist all of that great fiber, just peel the oranges and add them to the blender. In this case, I would only use 3-4 oranges. There is also no shame in using store bought OJ if you don’t have whole oranges to make your own juice. Your smoothie will still taste delicious!
Instead of buying each individual berry, buy a frozen berry blend. They are affordable and taste great. Keep in mind, most berry blends don’t contain cherries. I would swap out the strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries for 1 1/2 cups of berry blend and in addition still add the mango and cherries. Feel free to play around with the fruit combinations.
For a nice boost of protein, add a scoop of your favorite protein powder. I prefer to pair a vanilla flavor with this recipe but its totally up to you and your taste buds.
For a green berry smoothie, add 1-2 cups of fresh dark leafy greens of your choice. Some greens I like to add are spinach, green kale, swiss chard, or collard greens. Spirulina and/or chlorella are also nice green boost additions, but not necessary.
If the case that you’re only using fresh fruit instead of frozen (or a combo) in this smoothie, I would add 1-2 cups of ice. This assures that the end result is a nice chilled and frothy smoothie. Now for the other side of the spectrum. What if you only used frozen fruits and your smoothie is a bit too thick for your liking? Its all good, just add a little extra liquid, one splash at a time, until you reach the consistency you like. You can use extra orange juice or just water.

Ingredients:
6-7 medium oranges, juiced or 500ml of fresh orange juice (or store bought)
1 ripe, spotty banana, frozen
1 cup frozen cherries
1/2 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
1/2 cup raspberries, fresh or frozen
1/2 cup strawberries, fresh or frozen
1/2 cup frozen mango
Pinch of salt

Procedure:
Place all of the ingredients in a blender. Preferably place all the frozen item in first to assure they get fully blended without over blending the smoothie. It is also better to place all the whole foods in before the liquid to avoid any unwanted splatter. When using fresh oranges I like to save time by just squeezing the juice straight into the blender. If your oranges have a lot of seeds, make sure to use a strainer (as shown below). If I’m using fresh, not frozen fruit, I sometimes add 1-2 cups of ice to give the smoothie thicker consistency. Totally up to you though.

Blend on high for 30-45 seconds. I use a high speed blender and this only takes about 30 seconds. A regular blender should take no longer than a minute to fully blend everything.

Pour into glasses of choice and serve immediately. This recipe will make enough for one jumbo smoothie or two medium smoothies.
